Contrex K 2016 Preview

“Excellence is just the beginning.”

navigator_9000_01For the first time in our 35-year history Contrex is proud to announce it will be attending and hosting visitors at the upcoming K Trade Fair held in Düsseldorf, Germany from October 19th to the 26th.

Located in Hall 11, Stand E65 Contrex will be showcasing its latest innovations in the area of plastic automation specifically engineered for extrusion applications including: tubes, profiles, sheet, and blown film.  This will include a cross section of products from across our four distinct product families, including: Cooling Rings, Gravimetric Dosing, Process Control, and Measurement & Control.  K 2016 also presents the opportunity for Contrex to showcase its new membership as part of the Moretto S.p.A. group of companies.  Massanzago, Italy based Moretto, a leading manufacturer of plastic automation, will be attending K in Hall 11, Stand H57.

Displayed at K, Contrex will be highlighting its Atlantis™ 23T cooling ring.  Designed to drastically reduce the time of production startup, Atlantis 23T is an innovative high-efficiency automatic multi-flow air ring with sectoral thermal modulation for accurate and automatic thickness adjustment.

With this system it is possible to drastically reduce the thickness tolerances along the entire circumference of the bubble and compensating the channeling of the melt flows and possible misalignment.  The system uses three cooling flows with automatic thickness adjustment and controls the stretching in combination with the thermal factor.  The integration of these controls therefore gives more stability to the bubble, increases the power of cooling and enables greater productivity of the line.  A thermally insulated carbon chamber also manages colder air flows and further improves the cooling performance of the system.  The precise thickness control guarantees a reduction of the two sigma factor by up to 80% while still maintaining a high degree of flexibility in production changes.  Finally, combined with the automatic system lifter, Atlantis 23T improves the production efficiency by 50% by automatically lifting the top ring to the desired height depending on the production.

navigator_9000_02During the show Contrex also will be highlighting breakthrough developments in gravimetric dosing with the announcement of the new Gramixo™, a continuous gravimetric batch blender offering industry first features in gravimetric dosing for extrusion.  Building on a proven Moretto design, the new Gramixo features a traditional double-eyelid shutter capable of 25 millisecond batching speed.  At the heart of the doser you will find an inclined mixer offering precision mixing weighed on a double load-cell to ensure precision weighing and featuring a totalizer function that provides real-time and on-demand reporting of actual consumption.  In addition, the machine chassis features large transparent panels that provide unique visibility to the dosing process.  Further we have integrated LED lighting, with four unique colors, to indicate current machine operating status. These features ensure that the Gramixo gravimetric batch blender remains at the forefront of industry leading blenders specifically designed and engineered for extrusion applications.

Integrated management of the cooling ring, dosing system and thermal modulation in a closed loop.

Bringing together Contrex’s range of products visitors to K will be able to take the opportunity to see first-hand the Navigator 9000™, an integrated system for the management of the cooling ring, dosing system and thermal modulation in a closed loop.  The Navigator unit centrally coordinates all the production around the bubble film.  Each production parameter is controlled and managed by a powerful central server that utilizes a special proprietary batch timing system algorithm capable of automatically ensuring production starts in only two minutes. Using the included 15” color touch-screen display users are able to view production status as well as manage all of the production parameters for total control of the process.  Add to this a wealth of connectivity options for remote monitoring or integration into centralized building management systems and the Navigator 9000 is a must-have for today’s best in class extrusion systems.

As a proud member of the Moretto Group, Contrex looks forward to welcoming visitors to its inaugural K Show event and showcasing why… “Excellence is just the beginning.”
