Plastrac Adds Touchscreen Controller to all Blenders; Unveils New Hardware at NPE

Plastrac, the Edgemont, PA-based manufacturer of easy-to-use blending systems, has developed an easy-to-use, high functionality touchscreen controller that it will be exhibiting for the first time at 2018 National Plastics Exposition. The new controller will be a major feature at Plastrac’s booth (W129) on Level 2 of the West Hall.

According to Plastrac President, Ken Bullivant, “The new touchscreen utilizes an advanced user-friendly interface to deliver advantages that make the blending process easy to understand and manage.”

Set-up is intuitive and fast with full virtual keyboard entry for recipe configuration and component names. A USB port is provided for transferring the recipe filter to and from a thumb drive. Software updates can also be loaded via a thumb drive. The controller also features a non-volatile shot counter and wired Ethernet as standard. Set-up parameters can be viewed during operation, and many of them can also be changed during operation. The latter are stored automatically.

Problems can be quickly identified or averted. For instance, the controller detects and alarms for a short-circuit on external cables, and will stop feeding in the event of a motor control short. It will provide a specific alarm for low or missing motor voltage. Historically, operators can check alarm/event history via a real time and day stamp.

Plastrac offers a pulse tach version of the new touchscreen controller for quicker response to changes and for better filtering. The company also offers an additional output for a power baffle or breakup device.
